Correcting an oversight on Regarding Political Correctness

When we posted the blog-post “Regarding Political Correctness” we posted an unpublished response to a letter-to-the-editor, and the letter which inspired this blogster’s missive sufficiently intimated the meaning of the term that we left the term “political-correctness” undefined; subsequent to publishing the aforementioned blog-post we realized the term was left undefined. Now providing the definition – taken from the dictionary – would provide little social/community service, but we offer the perfunctory definition: ““political correctness” is: used to describe the avoidance of language or actions that are seen as excluding, marginalizing, or insulting groups of people who are seen as disadvantaged or discriminated against, especially groups defined by sex or race.”

Although there are historical instances in which socially acceptable term of the past may have wrongly, but reflexively, been utilized as either amoral (i.e., viewed as rather innocuous by its users) or as moral (descriptive and acceptable) e.g., “faggot,” “mick,” “dago,” “nigger” “etc., the people that utilized such terminology while avowing/subscribing to objective moralities were clearly reducing the individual to a pejorative; thus, rendering the individual as an element of a group; consequentially ascribing to the individual whatever qualities have been assigned – implicitly, or explicitly - the group. Such actions are immoral, because they reduce a moral agent (the individual human) to a non-moral homogeneous thing… Such actions rob individual human/s of their unique moral qualities; such actions – whether reflexive, or decidedly determined – are immoral… Dissuading/opposing the utilization of terminology of derogation is a benefit of the political-correctness, but that benefit of political-correctness has a troubling offset...

Political correctness generally opposes the utilization of demeaning terminology vis-à-vis individuals, and groups, possessed of the accident of race, color, creed, sex, or national origin and in that regard the practice of political-correctness is correct. What is troubling - regarding the practices of political correctness – is that it generally encourages the suppression of truths which reflect badly upon - individuals and groups - which the advocates of political-correctness would like to advance e.g., there are dramatic actual physical and mental (aggregate) differences between sexes (male and female), but because the aggregate differences generally indicate male dominance, such information is generally censured… One of the problems with suppressing such information, is that Government then utilizes an (that) edit of reality to promote/sponsor social-engineering programs e.g., integrating women into combat positions in the U.S. Military. Note that the same politicization (political-corrective manipulation of information) was utilized in Obama’s Administration to bring homosexuals “out-of-the-closet” along with LGBTQ’s and have them integrated into the U.S. Military.

As it turns out “political-correctness practitioners” often characterize – in like manner – advocates of objective moral principles, as sundry bigots, hate-mongers and subversives; manipulating facts, figures – statistics (inventing such information if necessary) - so as to cast aspersions upon some variant of the social-political Right as being exactly what most social-political Leftist individuals, groups and organizations actually embody. The Press, the University, the Entertainment Industry and the Federal Government involve themselves in these systematic mischaracterizing of the social-political Right and Left; generally characterizing those of the Right as malefic and those of the Left as generally embodying virtue i.e., presenting a diametric view of reality as true. Therein is what is so pestiferous about the practice of PC. And thus, we have corrected the oversight of not actually describing political-correctness when we inked “Regarding Political Correctness.”

If you want to save a copy of your content, you must do so before the website shuts down on December 31, 2017. We will NOT be able to provide any assistance after the website shuts down. We are available at only until the shutdown to provide more information and assistance.

It was a noble 10-year experiment, but it turns out that the writers with the best content are the least adept at the tech required to publish under our model, which in hindsight, makes perfect sense. If you are dedicating your life to becoming an expert in your specialty, you don’t have a lot of time left for figuring out publishing tech.

It hasn't helped that we have entered an age of unprecedented polarization and antagonism which doesn't foster demand for a website dedicated to the respectful engagement of diverse views.

Thank you, everyone!
