Despite bizarre and extreme weather events signalling the dangers of climate change, President Donald Trump has instructed his chief of the Environmental Protection Agency, Scott Pruitt, to role back the Clean Power Plan. That Obama-era regulation set limits on green house gas emission which made dirty coal plants less viable.

How did Obama's EPA and environmental regulations alter global-climatic changes?

Hi Phil!

Your caricature and short note each imply that you think POTUS Trump rolling back Obama's regulations will somehow adversely alter the planet... How? Implicit in your note is the suggestion that Obama's regulations and policies ameliorated deplorable conditions. How? Why - in your opinion Phil - are climate-scientists more reliable in their long-predictions than a meteorologist's prediction of the weather to be expected over the next week?

Phil, as a 2nd (1965), or 3rd (1966) grader (age 7 or 8 yrs old), my Weekly-Reader reported that NASA scientists were concerned with a new ice-age; the article discussed a number of ways these scientists were going to attempt to mitigate the influence of attenuated heating from a sun going through a cooling period... One of the suggestions (which - as an 8-year-old - I thought to be rather stupid, but I was a dumb kid) posited by NASA - according to my Weekly-Reader - would cover the earth with black dust (it may have been coal dust; that was a while ago...), so as to absorb more sunlight... So in the 1960's NASA predicts ice-age and we survived irrespective of ignoring their warnings... So NASA scientists make predictions diametrically opposed to those of 50 years ago...? What has changed, Phil?

Cordially,

tjd
