Prevaricator in Chief

Tonight we’re learning from the Washington Post that President Trump personally dictated a misleading statement in response to revelations that Donald Trump Jr. had met with a Russian lawyer.

On June 9, 2016, Trump Jr., Jared Kushner and then-campaign manager Paul Manafort met with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya after opposition research on Hillary Clinton was promised.

The initial statement attempted to downplay the meeting. We found out more about the meeting in Trump Tower with each passing day. It was eventually revealed that Rob Goldstone, an entertainment publicist, and a Russian who allegedly had intelligence ties, Rinat Akhmetshin, were also in attendance.

Trump Jr. released an email in which it was disclosed that the Russians were offering dirt on Hillary as part of the Russian government’s efforts to help the Trump campaign.

All the lying and dissembling from the White House on this and other incidents lend credence to the idea that Trump and his campaign have something to hide.

Trump may have developed his ability to look you directly in the eye and tell a lie during his years in New York real estate. Who knows what we’ll find out about all that when special counsel Robert S. Mueller III completes his investigation. Where will the money lead? To Russian oligarchs? There must be something there, otherwise Trump and his people wouldn’t be behaving like they’re covering up every step of the way. I think Trump, our prevaricator in chief, is acting so squirrelly because he knows what the truth is and he knows Mueller is getting close to uncovering it.
