Addressing the question: Do these pants make me look stupid? Global warming notwithstanding, it’s getting hotter in America. And really nasty. Never have people on low or fixed incomes so vocally defended the interests of executives with seven or eight-figure incomes, by hurling snarky comments and insults at elected officials and demonstrating against their own interests. The crazy...  Read More

During the U.S. Congressional health care reform vote Sunday night leaders on both sides were sending out Twitter messages by the thousands; each side telling recipients to disregard messages from the other side because they were lying. It’s another example of how technology/new media changes everything. So, is a lie still a lie if it’s a tweet? Earlier in the day, according to The Hill , a...  Read More

“ The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt ,” wrote the British philosopher , historian , and social critic Bertrand Russell . With no disrespect to Mr. Russell, who died 40 years ago at the age of 97, I’m usually skeptical about someone explaining “the trouble with the world” in a single sentence, but really impressed when it appears...  Read More

Return to Main Blog Page to Shut Down Permanently on December 31, 2017

If you want to save a copy of your content, you must do so before the website shuts down on December 31, 2017. We will NOT be able to provide any assistance after the website shuts down. We are available at only until the shutdown to provide more information and assistance.

It was a noble 10-year experiment, but it turns out that the writers with the best content are the least adept at the tech required to publish under our model, which in hindsight, makes perfect sense. If you are dedicating your life to becoming an expert in your specialty, you don’t have a lot of time left for figuring out publishing tech.

It hasn't helped that we have entered an age of unprecedented polarization and antagonism which doesn't foster demand for a website dedicated to the respectful engagement of diverse views.

Thank you, everyone!
