The End of Empathy

Pay attention to their laughter as others die.
In the police state the weak are slay-things
Who either grovel or serve as targets
For gangs, cops, politicians — gangs themselves —
Who consort with churches and billionaires
To destroy difference wherever they will
And make of murder the gory of god.

Children hungry, women beaten and pimped,
Men out of work and taught to hate success
Instead of learning themselves how to succeed,
Their arms filled with guns, their minds with murder,
Instead of tenderness and hope for change,
The right the Яight crush with laws that are not right
Lest any rite of law be left to the people.

This is the end of human empathy.
Across the globe multitudes suffer
So the few can bleed whomever they please
In their game of Idiot-ologies
None but tyrants frocked in hypocrisy
Could pretend human endurance can stomach —
This is the beginning of mendless tears.

For the love of roses

In addition to singing (Bach, Mozart, Schubert, and others), I grow roses for pleasure. Today is cloudy and overcast in north central Florida, but some of my shrubs are nevertheless showing in glory. I'm going to try to add some photos here. I hope they load and that you enjoy them.
