Greed in MUSTH ...

Elephants

(Under SHOW ALL MEDIA please find a file with a recording of me reading my poem aloud.)

You learn quickly they take care of each other.
The matriarch watches over them all,
Including resisting a bull in musth*
To protect her young, cull out cows in heat.
Imagine placing your body between
A ten-ton behemoth, penis unsheathed,
And the rest of your herd … and you mean it
Though you’re half his size: you are the mother.
We slaughter these creatures for their ivory,
Our greed in its musth* (no thought at all of sport).
It’s we who should be punished and branded
For our I-For-Me, extinction be damned.

Indian word for “pleasure" generally, including (extreme) sexual heat

Behave: The Biology of Humans at Our Best and Worst, by Robert M. Sapolsky

Much of America for the last two-thirds of a century has been a Third-World country, grossly impoverished, brutally violent, unrelentingly vicious, especially in race wars which white supremacists have been conducting under the guises of this or that authority. Now, under the reigning puppet of the...

Sonnet: The End of America

A sonnet in the manner of Milton or perhaps Wordsworth on my suffering homeland and those who are destroying it. The mode outdated, yes, but the spirit of the form can still be felt in the genius of the English language that can concentrate so much in fourteen rhymed iambic lines.

America's Pastime, a Quantum Perspective
