Online Dating Not Just for the Young

With online dating sites on the rise, those receiving high levels of traffic are ones that cater to seniors. Over the past five years, the 55+ age group has been the fastest growing category of subscribers within dating sites.

Despite their circumstances, seniors are using the internet as a means to find love or another form of companionship. One reason for this is that it is harder for older people to find events that involve congregations of people of a similar age. There are dating sites that do provide enriching events and experiences that allows for older age groups to meet and have fun with people of similar interests, but do not stress finding a date.

Research has shown that this age group may find more success online, since they are looking for something besides younger singles. However, safety issues still exist, no matter the age, and there are still instances where subscribers have been fooled by someone who has lied on their profile.

The stigma of online dating has lifted and despite what critics say, it is possible for seniors to find love on the internet.
