While driving my #1 wife to work today, she reminded me of the significance about the numbers today and wonder if this could be a good omen? So what is our luck for 1. We must examine the origins of 1 in our culture and take a look at what 1 means from various points of view.

Number One

Historically the 1 indicates being 'One with God', the male phallus, a point (in geometry), and God the Father. Because it appeared first it was thought of as unity, and goodness (especially in male dominated societies), and because it represents masculinity it is considered bad (in female dominated societies).

The Number 1

This number represents that all things are, at their essence, really 'one thing'. There is a single (one) whole which has created religious and even mystical tradition that identifies unity and singleness with goodness and anything that deviates from that (diversity and difference) as something bad.

Now if we examine the philosophical viewpoint 1 is from Descartes, In the First Meditation:

"IN THE First Meditation I expound the grounds on which we may doubt in general of all things, and especially of material objects, so long at least, as we have no other foundations for the sciences than those we have hitherto possessed. Now, although the utility of a doubt so general may not be manifest at first sight, it is nevertheless of the greatest, since it delivers us from all prejudice, and affords the easiest pathway by which the mind may withdraw itself from the senses; and finally makes it impossible for us to doubt wherever we afterward discover truth"

So now we are purified to discover the truth..so if you ck with the Wikipedia the year 1 was:

Year 1 (I) was a common year starting on Saturday or Sunday (link will display the full calendar) of the Julian calendar (the sources differ, see leap year error for further information) and a common year starting on Saturday of the Proleptic Julian calendar. At the time, it was known as the Year of the Consulship of Caesar and Paullus (or, less frequently, year 754 Ab urbe condita). The denomination 1 for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the Anno Domini calendar era became the prevalent method in Europe for naming years. It was the first year of the Christian/Common era. The preceding year is 1 BC in the widely used Julian calendar, which does not have a "year zero".

And since the cultural viewpoint today must include the media we see that 1 from Google means: +1 gets conversations going. Click the +1 button to give something your public stamp of approval. Then, if you want to share right away, add a comment and send it to the right circles on Google+.

But finally I think today's good luck must be given to the St. Louis Cardinals who are #1 in one of Baseball's Finest World Series.
