Cancellation and Refunds - Optional Charges

Optional Charges may be cancelled at any time without penalty and any prepaid amounts will be refunded based on the amount prepaid (if any) after the effective date of cancellation. Charges for Controlling Advertising, Credential Verification, Peer Review, Additional Storage & Bandwidth, and Personal Publishing Support (Optional Charges) are prepaid for the current month or year.

Cancellation of Optional Charges will become effective the next business day after cancellation. Cancellation is accomplished by logging in and going to My Control Center > My Account > Account Status, and selecting the Cancel Option. Cancelling your Optional Charges does not delete or deactivate your account on the Website (this is done separately in the My Account section) since you may continue to use the Website without charge from us just as before you selected Optional Charges. If you are unable to access the Website, you can cancel by contacting Customer Service as described below.

Refunds for prepaid Optional Charges are issued on a pro rata basis for the remainder of the prepaid portion. Monthly subscriptions will be refunded based on the number of days remaining in the month. For example, if there are 30 days in the month in which you cancel, and you cancel on the 9th day of the month, the cancellation will be effective on the 10th day of the month with 20 days remaining. Your refund will be 1/30 of $5.00 monthly charge multiplied by 20 days remaining in the month or $3.33.  

Annual prepaid Optional Charges will be refunded based on the number of days remaining in the year. For example, if there are 365 days in the year in which you cancel, and you cancel on the 199th day of the year, the cancellation will be effective on the 200th day of the year with 165 days remaining. Your refund will be 1/365 of $50.00 multiplied by 165 days remaining in the year or $27.40.

Refunds are only made for prepaid amounts we actually receive.  If we did not receive your prepaid portion for any reason, there is no refund. There are no refunds for Optional Charges paid prior to the effective date of Cancellation.

Credits are typically issued within 48 hours. We reserve the right not to re-activate accounts or accept a sign up for Optional Charges where there are repeated sign-ups and cancellations.

Cancellation and Refunds - Advertising

Advertising may be canceled at any time without penalty. An Advertiser has the option to have prepaid amounts remain on account for future advertising or have any prepaid amounts refunded based on the amount prepaid (if any) after the effective date of cancellation. Cancellation of Advertising will become effective the next business day after cancellation. An Advertiser must indicate they want a refund by going to My Control Center > My Advertising and selecting Request Refund, otherwise prepaid amounts will remain on account for a future campaign.

Refunds are only made for prepaid amounts we actually receive.  If we did not receive your prepaid portion for any reason, there is no refund. There are no refunds for Advertising paid prior to the effective date of Cancellation.
