I started my adult life as a Youth and Music pastor. In 1995 I shifted gears to work in Technology. I started out in network engineering and eventually, through trial and error, found I had a high aptitude for programming and web development. In 2000 I started CF Webtools - a development shop focused on high skill set developers. I've been blogging about technology and the business of web development since 2002 at ColdFusion Muse. I have found that my early years as a pastor and my musical training have been a great asset to me in my current technology profession. Partly this is because I am adept at grasping and working with the human element that is a part of any project.
I'm not all about technology though. I am an active member of a thriving evangelical church - Trinity - here in Omaha NE. I sing and work with the choir and I write devotional blogs on the Trinity Worship Choir web site. I am a firm believer in a personal relationship with Jesus and at age 44 I'm comfortable with who God has made me and how he is working in me.
You might be tempted to think that because of my faith and the type of church I attend that you know what I'm all about already. Don't pigeon hole me just yet. As an evangelical Christian I find myself mostly at odds with folks who see their faith as a collective bargaining chip to gain power in a democracy. I do not believe that much good can come from wielding power. I'm looking for a new type of Christian world view - a view that is not anti-science, anti-intellect and anti-environment.
I have no wish to offend. I do not want to be at odds with anyone. My hope is that I can use this site to begin to express some of those views and find a voice.
